Fatal school shooting in Ohio

Chardon, Ohio - A student opened fire on Monday in the cafeteria in high school in Ohio, fatally wounding a companion and wounding four others before fleeing and eventually surrender, police said.

The suspect was arrested by police shortly afterwards, after running through the crowd, but soon realized that the victim, Daniel Parmertor - or in years 16 or 17 years - died in hospital.

"We have a student death," said Police Chief Tim McKenna Chardon conference. "It's a sad day for us all today."

"A teacher came to chase the suspect out of the building," which allows officers to enter and provide the school for emergency personnel to treat victims, he said.
